Live to Dance Voting 2014


You can help The Arc Jackson County raise money to improve the quality of life for people who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities by voting for your favorite dancing couples and/or teams. The voting will continue until the evening of the event, March 8th, 2014. The Arc Stars, along with their dance partners, will be competing for various awards including the "People's Choice Award" for the most money raised via web-based voting and voting the evening of the event.

Vote now with a $5 donation for EACH VOTE.  For EVERY VOTE you cast,  you will receive a GIFT CARD from The Human Bean for a 12 oz. drink of your choosing (your card(s) will be sent by US Mail)! Vote for as many dancers as you like, and vote as many times as you like. The more money raised from the voting, the more services The Arc Jackson County will be able to provide for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.Thank you!

Hi, my name is Abby Leuthold.  I'm ten years old.  I was born with Spina Bifida and use a wheelchair.  Some things I enjoy doing are reading Nancy Drew books, listening to music, laughing, swimming, and spending time with the people I love.


Samara Walker

Samara Walker is the youngest of seven children. She is 13 years old and enjoys helping to care for her 9-month-old nephew. But most of all, she loves to dance!


Dawn Howell

Dawn Howell is the coordinator for Heart of Worship Dance team. Dawn has been a dance instructor for over 20 years. She enjoys ballet and lyrical the most but has done everything from ballet to Irish clogging to polka. "A dancer feels the music in her heart, but expresses it with everything else."

Hello, I’m Jessica Ross. I turned 21 in September. I have lived in Medford my whole life. I like to draw and being outside. People say I’m a caring good hearted person. I like taking care of others. I currently volunteer at The Arc’s Thrift Store and am gaining skills to find employment in the near future.



Herman Kahaloa, Jr.

Herman Kahaloa Jr. also known as “Junior” has danced for over 30 years, beginning in Hawaii under his uncle Kumu Hula Nalani Tenorio.  Since then he has studied different forms of dance including latin, club, and urban styles;  training most intensively in hip hop under acclaimed hip hop dancer Maricella Devine.  Junior currently is enrolled in Studio Roxander's - Intro to Ballet for Adults class under David "Rocky" Roxander.  Today Junior is a certified Group Groove, Lablast, and Aqua Works fitness and dance instructor at  Superior Athletic Club in Medford. Junior also teaches kids (8-12) Hip Hop at Studio Roxander.

Logan Spiess is 20 years old and is in his last year at the Transitional school in Eagle Point.   He is living in The Arc's Transition House, learning life skills of cooking, cleaning, and laundry. He has several jobs ranging from restaurant work to boxing items at Goodlife Box Company. Logan is a sports enthusiast. He was a member of the Crater Hockey team during high school. He now enjoys Special Olympics bowling, basketball, and track. Logan was part of the Eugene Track and Field trial events last summer where he ran the 100 meter dash race with the fastest seven Special Olympians in the state. Logan has always been fond of his animals and recently entered Peanut, his Miniature donkey, in the Wilderville Classic Donkey Show and the trail course. Logan plays basketball with a Unified team which has regular, as well as, special athletes.  Currently, he is starting the Special Olympics basketball unified team with 50% specially challenged and 50% regular basketball players.

Darcy Dodge has been dancing Social Ballroom Dance since 1990.  From 1994 to 2011 she was co-owner of Follow My Lead Dance Studio.  Currently she teaches private lessons under the name Learn2dance with Darcy.  She specializes in teaching beginning dance students Social Ballroom.   For her she says, “ It is rewarding to show new students they really do not have three left feet.  But the best part of teaching is when I can give someone the Gift of Dance."

Nicole Phillips is a young lady who has accomplished much. In 2011,  Nicole won a Special Olympics gold metal for first place. In 2012, she graduated from high school with a 3.75 GPA. Nicole is a caring person who is always willing to help others. If you are having a bad day, Nicole will comfort you and then make you laugh. As her mom said, "The one thing I love about Nicole is that she is very dedicated to everything she does and she will not give up." If you are not smiling, Nicole will find out why. Nicole is very compassionate especially when it comes to others.  To meet Nicole is to meet an angel. She will be your friend for life--UNCONDITIONALLY!!

Aimee Wilson is a hair designer at Bel Capelli Salon in Medford.  When she isn't styling peoples hair she loves to dance.  In fact, she has been dancing her entire life! She is excited to be a part of this amazing program and feels so blessed she gets to dance with Nicole!

Berke Widlund is 14 years old, was born in Medford and attends Hedrick Middle School.  In 2004 at the age of 4, Berke was diagnosed with Prader Willi Syndrome. She participates on Southern Oregon Special Olympics swim, basketball, and track teams.  Berke was on Honor Society at Hedrick in 2013 - she also participated in the 2013 Hoop it Up Fundraiser at Hedrick. Berke has recently found a passion to sew and is actively participating in sewing lessons. At home she spends most of her time playing with her two dogs that she absolutely adores; Daizi is 4 yrs old, a black and tan mini daschund and Peanut is 5 months old, and a tan dapple mini dwarf daschund!!

Logan Widlund is 20 years old, was born in Medford and attended Medford schools until 8th grade when his family moved to Vancouver, WA.  After graduating from Skyview High School in Vancouver, Logan moved back to Southern Oregon to be closer to his extended family.  He is currently attending Rogue Community College where he is working on his Associates Degree and working full time at his family's 7-ELEVEN!!

Mark Cromwell was raised in the Applegate and graduated high school from South Medford High in 1989.  In 1993, Mark bought Rosario’s Italian Restaurant and he owned and operated it until selling it in December 2001.  In January 2002, Mark Cromwell was hired by the Medford Police Department as a Patrol Officer and he is currently serving as a Detective specializing in financial crimes and asset forfeiture.  Mark is a 9 year member of the Medford Police SWAT team and is currently serving as the Region 3 Vice President for the Oregon Tactical Officers Association.  Mark is also the owner of a local construction company specializing in the rebuilding and repair of fire damaged homes.  He is married to  Laura Cromwell, who is an amazing woman, and he is the proud father of three wonderful daughters - Mckenna, age 16, Marlena, age 14, and Madara, age 11.

Donny Atkinson was born in Ashland and is a graduate of Ashland High School.  He has been an employee of Pathways for over 20 years.  He learned how to dance by watching the Golddiggers on the Dean Martin show. Donny likes to imitate John Travolta and his favorite TV show is "Dancing with the Stars"



Christine Bronson

Christine Bronson is excited to be involved in Live to Dance with The Arc Stars this year.  A native Californian, she moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 to take a job with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Deputy.  Now, 20 years later as Lieutenant, she spends a great deal of her time working in the community including serving as a Board Member for The Arc.  While Christine’s only dance background is her current twice a week Zumba class, she expects to learn quickly and show off her new dance steps!  When she isn’t working or learning new Zumba moves, Christine enjoys spending time with her family, reading, cross stitching and traveling.  Christine is also an avid supporter of Special Olympics and has taken the Polar Plunge the last 4 years.

Hi, I am Kelly. I am 34 years old and graduated from Phoenix High School in 1997. Born 3 pounds 8 ounces - I was a miracle baby. Growing up was a pain, but I made it through and now I am happy to be where I am at with all the beautiful friends along the way. My favorite quotation is, “You start from the bottom and work your way to the top." My favorite hobby is weather spotting. If you want to know what to expect to happen with the weather, just ask me!



Trish Welch

Trish Welch is a graduate of Oregon State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sport Science. During and after graduation she worked in the fitness world for nearly 10 years until she was hired in the spring of 1999 by The Arc Jackson County as their Respite Care Coordinator. One year later Trish was appointed as The Arc's Executive Director, enabling her to further express her passion for serving people!

Trish, along with a long tenured dynamic staff, has been able to develop new programs and services unique to the area as well as other parts of Oregon and the United States.   She currently serves as the Vice President of the Heart of Medford Association and is a member of the Rogue Valley After Five Rotary Club - all while raising three awesome kids: Brooklyn, 6; Saxon, 13; and  Sterling, 16 - along with her husband Jim.


Jennifer Elliott

NBC5 News at Sunrise co-anchor Jennifer Elliott was raised in the Rogue Valley, ultimately graduating from South Medford High School in 2006. She then traveled to Idaho to get her Bachelors at Brigham Young University–Idaho. Now she's excited to be sharing the news right back in her hometown. Her loves include reading, drawing, playing the organ, fishing, and of course, her husband and two young sons.


Kid McCree

Kedrin "Coach Kid" McCree was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. While attending high school and college, he worked side jobs and earned money teaching classmates dance routines. He moved to Los Angeles to follow longtime friend, and then singing group member, Grammy award winner Neyo. He has been a guest on many major tours as a backup dancer including Jay Z, Next, Boyz II Men, TLC, and many more. Now he's following his dream teaching kids at America's Best Kids (ABK) for more than 10 years.

Teresa is an amazing woman who is very passionate about dancing. Over the years she has developed quite an array of dance moves. Teresa defiantly jiggies to her own tune and loves when others join in to learn her unique moves. If you know anything about the First Saturday dances it’s a guarantee you will see her there shaking and grooving. Teresa lives with her roommate Shari. They have lived together for over 15 years. Shari is Teresa’s go to gal, her best friend, her sister, and roomy for life! A few years ago Teresa was diagnosed with an onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. This has impacted Teresa’s life in many ways.  Teresa cannot retain much of anything that is new, but is able to maintain by her long embed routines and seeing people on a day to day basis. Teresa is an extremely driven woman and with the right supports in place can still conquer life’s challenges.



Jim Gochenour

Jim Gochenour brings both nonprofit and for profit experience to Living Opportunities. Jim joined the Living Opps Team in December of 2002 as Director of Development. By successfully implementing the Benevon Fundraising Model, he significantly raised annual giving, created a strong foundation for a multiple year-giving society, helped establish our endowment, planned giving program and developed a base for a capital campaign support. Jim is past president of Rogue Valley Development Professionals and current member Associations of Fundraising Professionals. Jim spent 18 years in marketing, promotions, hotel convention sales; trade show and fashion show production, with Westin Hotel, Brittania Sportswear and Union Bay Sportswear. During that time he consulted with many volunteer boards and committees on community awareness, public relations, fund raising and special events. “It’s not about what you have or what you’ve accomplished. It’s about who you have lifted up and made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.”

Hi there, it’s me Ellynrose Sheehan.  I am thirty-six years old. While I was born in Evanston, Illinois I grew up in Oakland, California.  I have lived here in Oregon for at least nine years.  I keep myself busy going to spin class, knitting, painting, and volunteering at the studio, bowling. Also, playing with my dog, Dusty, and my parent’s dog, Woody.  I love to dance and am excited to participate in Live to Dance with The Arc Stars.  I know my grandmother, who loved to dance and was a true "Dancing With The Stars" fan, is looking down on me from heaven and smiling about my participation in this experience.



Matt Robinson

Hi, I’m Matthew Robinson.  I was born and raised in the Rogue Valley. I  have been dancing since I was 16.   I have danced in many of the dance exhibitions around the valley including "Rogue Valley Dancing with the Stars". I have studied with June Kranenburg and have also danced in her performance group. Dancing has been and will continue to be one of the biggest loves of my life.
